Organizational HistoryFirst Coast Health Alliance (FCHA) is a for profit affiliate of Flagler Hospital. Flagler Hospital is a 335 bed, acute care hospital that is ranked among the top 5% of all hospitals in the nation for both clinical excellence. The hospital has been serving St. Johns County since its founding in 1889 and today, is part of Flagler Health+- a total care enterprise aimed at advancing physical, social and economomic health for northeast Florida communities. FCHA was formed in May of 2013 to foster collaboration among independent physicians and Flagler Hospital in a way that will increase both the quality and efficiency of patient-centered care. This partnership between the hospital and some 186 local physicians was created to ensure that the provision of care in the region is managed locally by local providers. The alliance gives physicians the ability to maintain independence while also achieving the following goals:
The organization is directed by a board of directors made up of six Flagler Hospital representatives, seven elected physicians and one community member. Flagler Hospital and its partner physicians have been meeting the health and wellness needs of area residents for more than 130 years. With unmatched experience in primary, urgent and emergency care, as well as collective member expertise in wellness, preventive care and disease management there is no other organization better poised to meet the needs of our area and surrounding communities.
